🎭 From One City, Many Cultures to One Province, Many Cultures

Born out of post-apartheid unity efforts in 1999 as the One City, Many Cultures Project, the Cape Town Arts Festival (CTAF) has grown into a platform for community empowerment, artist development, and cultural celebration.

After four transformative years of building platforms for artists across Cape Town and the Garden Route, we’re proud to unveil our new identity:

Cape Town Arts Festival is now Western Cape Arts Festivals (WCAF)

This evolution reflects our expanded reach, deeper community impact, and renewed commitment to rural arts, indigenous heritage, and cultural tourism as a driver of economic growth.

Since 2022, our programmes and festivals have:

  • 🎓 Trained 276+ youth, musicians, and creatives
  • 🎤 Supported 845+ artists with income and performance opportunities
  • 🛍 Enabled 173 vendors and suppliers to earn from cultural trade
  • 👥 Welcomed over 7,500 audience members into inclusive, heritage-rich spaces

The AIR Festival 2025, held in Plettenberg Bay on Human Rights Day, was a true reflection of this mission — generating 210+ income opportunities, drawing 3,000+ attendees, and celebrating indigenous dance, music, and identity.

We are no longer just “One City, Many Cultures.”
We are One Province, Many Cultures.

WCAF is more than a rebrand — it’s a renaissance. A commitment to scale our impact, empower more artists, and weave arts into the very fabric of our communities.”
— Yusuf Ganief, CEO
