DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS
The Western Cape Arts Festivals (WCAF) Development Projects include the following programmes:
a) Artists for Artists Programme – Digital Technology Project
b) Beyond Busking Development Programme
c) Events and Marketing Management Programme
d) African Indigenous Renaissance (AIR) Entrepreneur Programme
In 2023, the Western Cape Arts Festivals (WCAF), in partnership with Ariva Arts Foundation, developed the Job Readiness Toolkit following the success of the Beyond Busking Project. The Job Readiness Toolkit is a multifaceted learning, upskilling, and employment project designed for artists and non-artists. The project creates pathways into the creative economy through practical skills development, mentorship, workplace experience, and entrepreneurship opportunities.
Successful applicants receive practical training and employment opportunities while developing skills as arts entrepreneurs, arts administrators, social media specialists, digital creatives, and events and marketing managers.
In 2025, the Western Cape Arts Festivals (WCAF) expanded the Job Readiness Toolkit Project into the Garden Route region through the introduction of the African Indigenous Renaissance (AIR) Entrepreneur Programme. The programme was established to extend WCAF’s vision deeper into rural communities, preserve and celebrate indigenous heritage, and position cultural tourism as a driver of sustainable economic growth, entrepreneurship, and creative industry development across the Western Cape.
